A handout featuring language from feminist and nonviolence advocate Barbara Deming’s 1971 essay Revolution & Equilibrium.

This section of her essay, often referred to as the Two Hands of Nonviolence, is one of the most powerful and short descriptions of the dual power of nonviolence - the strength to say “no” to injustice, and the compassion to continue to say “yes” to our shared humanity.
